Starry Hearts
By B. A. Llewellyn

And it felt so good, I want to do it again!

People react differently to heartbreaks. Some hold on to their pain for such a long time that it seems the pain is the only thing that keeps them alive. For others, they easily get up after the fall and move on with their lives, or so it seems.

No matter how differently we react to a broken heart, the fact is that a heartbreak is still a heartbreak no matter how you look at it. Some people do handle it better than others, more so when they've been through it before. But the truth is, no matter how many times you experience having your heart broken, it never gets easier. Because deep inside, where it counts, it always hurts like hell and worse!

The thing is, after a while, you learn from your past. And you learn how to put on a mask to hide the pain behind. To the whole world it would seem that you've made it past the pain. But you're the only one who can know exactly how deep the wound really is, or how raw.

Sometimes though, with the mask on, you can manage to convince yourself that you are more than over the hurt of a heartbreak, even when you're not. And because of this, your heart is not able to mourn as it should. The problem with this is, if you put the mask on too fast and start believing in what you're pretending to feel rather than what you're actually feeling, sooner or later the pain will catch up with you and swallow you whole.

Having said all of that, my point is this - No matter how much it hurts, no matter how many times we've hurt, and no matter how we handle the pain, what really matters is that we learn. After all the ranting and sulking and crying and pretending, what matters is that at the end of it all, we pick ourselves up and move on, head held high, forgiving but never forgetting the lessons that came with the pain.

And at the end of it all, no matter how much it hurts or how many times we've hurt or how well we can handle the pain, we should always bounce back and love again. Because, admit it, it feels great to be in love, whatever comes with it!
