The Caine Prize for African Writing 
The Caine Prize for African Writing is named in memory of the late Sir Michael Caine, former Chairman of Booker plc. He was Chairman of Africa 95, and Chairman of the Booker Prize management committee for almost 25 years. 
The winner is announced at a dinner in Oxford in July, to which the short listed candidates are all invited. This is part of a week of activities for the candidates, including book readings, book signings and press opportunities.

ABC Fiction Award
The ABC (Australian Broadcasting Commission) Fiction Award seeks the best, original, unpublished, adult fiction manuscript, written by an Australian resident over the age of 18. The submitted manuscript cannot be under consideration by any other publisher or award.

The ABC Fiction Award aims to encourage emerging writers, contribute to Australian literary culture, and fulfil the ABC's charter by reflecting the diversity of the Australian community and adding to a sense of national identity.
The winner of the ABC Fiction Award 2007 will receive a $10,000 advance and have their book published through ABC Books. The winning entry will be broadcast on ABC Local Radio and will be available as an audio book

The Patrick White Playwrights' Award
The Patrick White Playwrights' Award is a major playwriting initiative of Sydney Theatre Company and The Sydney Morning Herald, offering Australia's richest playwriting award to a full-length unproduced play of any genre by an Australian playwright 20 years of age or over.

To date, twelve playwrights have shared in the Award, with many of the winning works going on to receive successful productions around Australia. The Award is made by a panel of judges comprising prominent Australian playwrights, writers and directors. Past judges have included Hilary Bell, Beatrix Christian, Brendan Cowell, Lindy Davies, Dorothy Hewett, Lenny Ann Low, David Marr, Tony McNamara, Chris Mead, Marion Potts, Robyn Nevin, John Romeril, Katherine Thomson, David Williamson, Ben Winspear, Susan Wyndham and Tom Wright.

A public reading of the winning play will be presented by Sydney Theatre Company in association with Sydney Writers' Festival.

THE FISH INTERNATIONAL SHORT STORY PRIZE
Fish Publishing
is an independent Irish publishing company, founded in 1994. It aims to enable writers to have their work published in book format. The annual Fish International Short Story Prize has become an established event on the literary calendar, and numerous winners of the prize have gone on to publish many widely-acclaimed works. These include Eamonn Sweeney, Molly McCloskey, William Wall, Alex Keegan, Gina Ochsner, Suzanne Power and Martin Malone.
Fish Publishing also has other competitions - the One Page Story Prize, which is run annually, and the Short Histories Prize and the Unpublished Novel Award, which were held in 2005.
First Prize - €2,500
Second Prize - a week at the Anam Cara Writers' & Artists' Retreat in West Cork's Beara Peninsula, with €250 travelling expenses.

The Kiriyama Prize 
The Kiriyama Prize was established in 1996 to recognize outstanding books about the Pacific Rim and South Asia that encourage greater mutual understanding of and among the peoples and nations of this vast and culturally diverse region. The Prize consists of a cash award of US $30,000, which is split equally between the fiction and nonfiction winners.
