Freckles

By Stephen Pray

Four legged fur ball
spotted black, brown, and white
soulful sad eyes full of liquid mischief.
Full of young puppy vigor
came in through my door
came in through my life.
He thinks that I am his
to just entertain, thrown him a ball
tug on a rope, lick and nip at my fingers.
He’s the first dog to own me
he raced down my hall and captured
my heart and my soul.
