Reflection

Out in the desert where people are few
I saw a man that I once knew
A big man was he, strong and tall
I knew him well once, but now not at all
Once we were friends, but each went his way
Such a long time ago, ten years to the day
The years had been many, but not often kind
His hair was all gray; his face was all lined
But the twinkle of humor was still in his eye
We said not a word and I turned with a sigh
Climbed up on my horse at last feeling free
For the man that I saw was the reflection of me.

Cowboy with his horse in Arizona.
Cowboy with his horse in Arizona.
