Winning Poems    Winning Short Stories   Current Writing Competition

From Annette Hunter
1st Prize Winner in the "A Successful Life" writing competition
Read Annette Hunter's winning short story "I Remember"

I would like to thank you very much for running this competition allowing writers to express themselves and showcase their work in a nurturing and stimulating environment. I was extremely flattered and thrilled to have my work chosen as a finalist, and to then have been selected as first place is a momentous boost to the confidence in my work.

I would like to elect the book by B.A. Llewellyn ,"Letters to Michael as my prize.

As for providing people with more information regarding myself, it maybe somewhat of a tall order, as there is very little to tell. I live in Toormina with my husband, son and daughter. I work full time in a federal government position. I have always wanted to write and this was the first time I have publicly displayed anything I have ever written. Other than writing I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, photography and reading.

Once again, thank you very much for the opportunity and please pass on my thanks to your readers.

Gratefully yours

Annette Hunter

From Della Steen
2nd Prize Winner in the "A Successful Life" writing competition
Read Della Steen's winning poem "A Successful Life

Wow, I'm so rapped!  This is the first poem I've ever submitted to the public, and only the second thing I've ever submitted since completing a writing course recently.  I'm amazed! - this poem came to me in the middle of the night when I couldn't sleep!

I have had a look at your website and it almost made me cry to hear the thoughts of my heart being so beautifully read by Barbara in amongst the others there.  Please thank Barbara for doing such a great job.  And your rendition in the other entries is very well done too.  I particularly like the way you two did "It's not the money..."  Great work.

From the other finalists I can see that you would have had a hard time choosing the winner... most are very good and I would hate to have to choose between them.  There are a number that I really like.

Thanks again for giving us the opportunity to air our stories and our hearts.

I've had a look at your bookshop and I think I'd like to receive your "Married and loving it" book.  I love being married (in fact I feel like my life began when we married - nearly 12yrs ago) I am interested to see what your perspective is!

Thank you once again for your generosity.

Blessings on you both.

Della

It's no wonder you had trouble choosing which ones to place in the top 10 - they are all very good, and I do not know which one to try to pick as the winner for the $20 prize! Good on you for running this competition and I look forward to hearing the winner, and seeing what the next comp is!

Thank you so much for recognition. If you would like to know more about me I've attached a very small bio if you would like any more information , please, don't hesitate to ask. Also included is a brief description of novels I have written but have yet to be published and an attachment of "The Healing" should you wish to review it. I wrote it as part of my healing for my son: If you would like to see more of my work I will be very honored to send it to you.

Thanks for everything.

Read Matt Bennetts winning poem "Tuesday Morning – Mondayitis

Thanks, I'm thrilled to hear that I got third place, my selection of prize is Married and Loving It.

Thanks for this, I'm very excited.  Have noticed that other people have autobiographical details with their poems and didn't realise this was expected as this is my first competition.  If it's not too late, here are a couple of brief details:
I'm 19 years old, I'm a Uni Student studying a Bachelor of Arts with the dream of writing for a living.  My hobbies include tennis and indoor footy and I'm an avid reader.
